History

MSTA: For the Cause of Science Education and Science Talent Search since 1981

The Mumbai Science Teachers’ Association (MSTA) was established in 1981 with an objective to provide a platform for the science teachers to enrich and exchange their experiences and with an ultimate goal to widen the scope of science education amongst students.

Vision and Mission

The vision of the M.S.T.A. is to see that the next generation students are well versed and aware of the scientific developments globally and as a result they contribute effectively to the scientific research and environment enhancement within the communities they live in.

The M. S. T. A. mission is to attain a higher level of professionalism in enabling students and teachers to achieve their goals in terms of career, knowledge and overall development.

M.S.T.A. is indeed proud of its impressive progress in the last 30 years and is committed to human resource development through the science education amongst the students’ community.

Activities of MSTA

Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Spardha is truly the highlight of M.S.T.A.’s achievements. This competition was started in 1981 in Marathi medium for students studying in 6th and 9th standard from Mumbai region with only 250 participants.

M.S.T.A is proud to announce that in this year nearly 40,000 students from 6th and 9th standard appeared for this contest from all over Maharashtra in English, Marathi and Hindi mediums.

The other regular activities of M.S.T.A. are as follows:-

a) To arrange workshops and training programs for students and teachers for enhancing science education as per requirement.

b) To help the Education Dept. in organizing orientation programs for science teachers such as orientation for the new syllabus, innovative methods of teaching etc.

c) To provide assistance in the evaluation and execution of various science activities, such as science exhibition, nature club, science club, science fare, etc.

d) To visit and introduce to our students science institutions, such as Bombay Natural History Society, Nehru Science Centre, Nature Information Centre , Nehru Planetarium AYUKA etc.

e) To involve students of various states and regions in science activities.

f) To receive guidance and advice of experts from various scientific fields for the association’s activities.

g) To implement environment awareness drive through various activities throughout the year, as detailed below:
